WARLAND CASTLE
THE FRAZEE HOME IN MOOSA CANYON
nIsaac Frazee wanted to build a castle for his family like that of his ancestors in the Scottish Highlands.
nHe designed the castle, and spent two years shaping the stones before he knew how it would be built.
nIn 1893 a Scottish stonemason stopped by the ranch.  Isaac persuaded him to stay and help him build the castle.  The tower took two years to complete.
nThe main wing of the castle was never finished, but Isaac moved the familyÕs wooden home next to the tower.
nThe castle was originally named ÒWar-LandÓ tower after a legendary shoot-out that gave the valley its nickname.  An Oceanside resident mistakenly called the ranch ÒWorelandÓ and the name stuck.  An English neighbor was the first to refer to the tower as a ÒcastleÓ.
