Harriet Tubman:
"Moses of the Civil War"

Formerly a slave in the American South, Harriet Tubman becam
known as the most famous guide of the Underground Railroad, a
secret network that during the mid-1800s. It helped slaves escape t
freedom in then or thern United States and Canada. After escaping
from slavery in Maryland, Harriet returned to the South 19 times,
using different routes and disguises. She led hundreds of slaves t
  freedom.
Harriet Tubman (far left, holding basin) is photographed here with a group of slaves.
She led them to freedom as a conductor on the Underground Railroad . Her success
led Southerners to offer a reward for her capture. Despite the hazards, she
made an estimated 19 rescue trips to free Southern slaves.

Harriet always carried two things with her- a rifle- to threaten anyone that had second thoughts about freedom- and cough syrup- to quiet the babies in the dark. The reason that she threatened to kill anyone with second thoughts is because when they got back, their masters would obviously want an expalnation and so they would be bribed their freedom for details and information, and so she would rather them be killed than she be captured after being so kind as to try and free them.

TheUndergroundRailroad!!!

The underground railroad was not actually  a railroad, but a passageway from slavery to freedom.

Did you know?
When Harriet Tubman was just a child,  she was in town buying dinner for her master, and the store owner was theratening to trhow an iron weight at another african-american slave, and when he actually did, it missed and hit her.

People that believed in slavery used the flag on the left(the Confederate flag) as their symbol just as we use the one on the right(the American flag). The difference  ---  one is morally wrong, and the other symbolizes independence and free will.

As you may already know, Harriet Tubman was very popular after she stood up for what she believed in. After she escaped from slavery, she went back and using the Underground Railroad, she saved over 300 enslaved African Americans from slavery.
She went and came back, risking all she had, 19 times to save people like herself. She was a very brave woman She is so popular
now that she is even on U.S stamps and has streets named after her.
The pictures below are some examples of how much people appreciate what she helped our country realize. That slavery was and is wrong.
